Armenian Parliament approves bill redoubling the size of individual bank deposit guarantees
ArmInfo. Today, the National Assembly of Armenia approved a bill redoubling the size of individual bank deposit guarantees.
84 MPs voted in support of the bill.
The bill says that the guarantees should be inreased from 2mln AMD to 4 mln AMD for AMD deposits and from 1mln AMD to 2mln AMD for foreign exchange deposits.
The amount of commercial banks' contributions to the deposit insurance fund has also been redoubled - from 2.5% to 5% of the average daily amount of deposits by all contributing banks.
The bill also says that the maximum size of commercial banks' insurance payments should be revised according to changes in the fund's regulations, at least, once in five years. The Central Bank of Armenia can invest up to 5bln AMD in the fund as its only founder.
