Active plastic cards in Armenia grew in number by 28.4%
ArmInfo. By 1 October 2010 active plastic cards in Armenia grew in number by 28,4% to 537609 as compared with the same period of 2009. A total of 18374 cards were issued in September alone. The given cards were issued by Armenian Card (ArCa) payment system member banks.
The share of local ArCa cards is 55,7% or 299.4 thsd (15,2% annual growth), Visa - 27% or 145.6 thsd (36,5% annual growth), MasterCard – 17,2% or 92.6 thsd (77,3% annual growth). In September operation with 343,5 thsd cards were carried out (64% of the total number of active cards), the annual growth being 24,2%.
Armenian Card CJSC told ArmInfo that as of 1 October there were 2656 trade and servicing points (bancomats exclusive). There were 3078 POS-terminals at these trade and servicing points. At the same time, 2930 POS-terminals served ArCa cards, 1839 - Visa, and 2572 - MasterCard. Over September the number of trade and servicing points grew by 97, POS- terminals – by 138. As of 1 October 2010 there were 647 operating bancomats in Armenia, the annual growth being 20,3%.
