ArmInfo. Last week (20 December-9 January) Armenian banks provided loans worth 56.3 bln AMD and $111.9 mln, the press service of the Central Bank of Armenia told ArmInfo.
According to the source, over the current week (27 December 2010-14 January 2011) the banks bought $167.4 mln at the average exchange rate of 361,86 AMD/$1, and sold $238.7 mln at the average exchange rate of 363.37 AMD/$1 in the intrabank currency market (transactions with clients).
Over the given period currency purchase and sale operations worth $58.9 mln were carried out at the average exchange rate of 363,9 AMD/$1 at NASDAQ OMX Armenia; the biggest volume was registered on 29, 30 December and 13 January ($20.5 mln, $11.6 mln, and $10.3 mln respectively).
Currency purchase and sale operations worth $3.7 mln were carried out at the average exchange rate of 361.32 AMD/$1 in the interbank currency market from 27 December to 14 January.
To note, as of 1 Oct 2010, the summary provision of crediting of the Armenian banking system amounted to 903 bln AMD or $2.5 bln, having increased by 7,6% over Q3 2010 (against 2,3% growth in Q2 2010 and 10% growth in Q3 2009), and by 15% as compared with the same period of 2009.
