Armenian drivers' habit to solve problems "through the buddy system" yields ground to insurance policies: Nairi Insurance experts
ArmInfo. The stable mentality of Armenian drivers to solve all problems "through the buddy system" is gradually yielding ground to civilized methods of resolving disputed situations arising in course of road traffic accidents, Nairi Insurance experts say.
According to the specialists of the company, the insurance policies allow drivers to respond to the road accidents and the related damage more quietly.
"Some distrust in insurers and certain confidence in receiving insurance indemnities contribute to this", the company says. Drivers willingly cooperate with Nairi Insurance and provide it with the necessary and reliable information about the road accidents within a reasonable period.
It is a little bit hard to fight this habit in Armenia's regions, but there are also positive tendencies here. In particular, if over the first days of MTPL operation there was not a single road accident without verbal exchanges and obscenities, today in the majority of cases the sides try not to violate the ethic norms and immediately inform their insurance agent about the road accident.
When commenting on the degree of willingness of Road Police for compulsory insurance, the company's specialists pointed out that the employees of the investigative department of the Road Police work more harmoniously than expected.
"The matter concerns efficient arrival at the place of road accident, delegation of part of their powers to the specialists of insurance companies, except insignificant disputable cases. Certainly, such harmonious work considerably simplifies the process of regulation of the road traffic accidents, and removes additional bureaucratic barriers", the company's experts say.
However, it is not so easy to work with medical establishments. Nairi Insurance specialists think that it is necessary to persuade the given structures of the efficiency of such a mechanism as MTPL, particularly, the matter concerns compensation for the provided medical services. Therefore, the effectiveness of work with the given institution is not so high, however, fortunately, the company had no big cases with personal harm yet.
The company says that over the first month after the introduction of MTPL, Nairi Insurance received 8 statements about MTPL insurable events. The situation abruptly changed because of worsening of weather conditions on Feb 1, and this considerably increased the number of road traffic accidents and consequently the number of applications to insurance companies. On Feb 1 Nairi Insurance received about 70 statements about road accidents.
