Central Bank forecasts 18% growth in economy lending in 2011
ArmInfo. The Central Bank of Armenia forecasts 12.3% growth in monetary base and 16% growth in money supply (22.2% growth in AMD supply) in 2011.
According to the CB's monetary credit policy for Q1 2011, as a result of the CB's dedollarization policy, AMD deposits will grow quicker than foreign exchanges ones - 35.2% against 7.6% while AMD cash will grow by 13%. The CB will continue giving preference to commercial and mortgage lending.
Economy lending will grow by 18% against 27% growth in 2010 due to tougher monetary credit requirements.
In 2010 monetary base in Armenia dropped by 1% to 507.5bln AMD ($1.4bln) as of Jan 1 2011. In Dec 2010 it grew by 11.5%. Money supply grew by 11.8% and 8.6%, respectively, to 911.4bln AMD ($2.5bln). Deposits grew by 7% and 6.7%, respectively, to 702.3bln AMD ($1.9bln) whereof AMD deposits made up 217.9bln AMD ($600mln) or 31% of total deposits. Loans grew by 26% and 4.5%, respectively, to 941.5bln AMD ($2.6bln) whereof AMD loans made up 383.4bln AMD (43%) while foreign exchange loans - 508.4bln AMD (57%) - 8.6% and 36.8% respective growths as compared with 2009.
