ArmInfo. INGO ARMENIA insurance company registers abrupt growth of road accidents in Armenia because of the Feb 1 snowfall. Chief Actuary of INGO ARMENIA Hayk Zaimtsyan told ArmInfo that on the heavy snowfall day INGO ARMENIA fixed 80 accidents, this index being thrice as much as the average daily index in January. He said that the most serious accident took place near the Botanic Garden in Yerevan, where several cars hit one another at the same time.
The company thinks that Feb 1 was a tense day for all insurers. Nevertheless, thanks to the prompt and competent work of its employees, the company managed to cope with all problems caused by the heavy snow.
When commenting on the willingness of Armenian Road Police for compulsory insurance, the chief actuary of the company pointed out that according to the drivers, some employees of the investigation department of the Road Police did not arrive at the place of the accidents in time on Feb 1.
To note, according to "Achilles Center for Protection of Drivers' Rights" NGO, the Road Police of Armenia abuses its office regarding the drivers having MTPL policies. Moreover, the Road Police arrives at the place of accidents tardily. In some cases police employees did not come to the place at all, "Achilles" says.
To note, before the law on MTPL had come into forces, when commenting on the willingness of the infrastructures engaged in the MTPL introduction process, many experts of insurance market stated that the work of the Road Police employees may become a serious obstacle for successful servicing of drivers within the frames of MTPL contracts.
