Diamonds export from Armenia down 37% for 1Q 2011
ArmInfo. Diamonds export from Armenia down 37% for 1Q 2011 - to 65 thsd carats versus 103 thsd carats a year ago, the report of Armenian customs service says.
The customs cost of diamonds exported from Armenian in the 1Q 2011 amounted to $17 526 thsd against $20 243 thsd in the 1Q 2010.
The total of 106 thsd carats of rough diamonds which cost $24 262 thsd were imported to Armenia in the 1Q 2011, versus 176 thsd carats at $27 964 thsd in the 1Q 2010.
To note, in 2010 export of diamonds from Armenia grew by 5,7 times - to 477 thsd carats against 84 thsd in 2009. Almost all the diamonds produced in Armenia are exported to the USA and Europe.
