Economy lending rate is high in Armenia
ArmInfo. Economy lending rate is high in Armenia - 2.7% in May 2011. Dollarization rate dropped by 1.1%.
The press service of the Central Bank of Armenia reports that AMD base decreased by 0.3% while AMD supply increased by 3% due to 3.2% growth in circulating cash and 2.8% growth in AMD deposits. Foreign exchange deposits grew by 0.9% curbing the growth of money supply to 2.1% and causing 2.5% reduction in money base.
According to the National Statistical Service of Armenia, May 1 2011 money base in Armenia totalled 499.6bln AMD ($1.337bln) - 1.3% less than in Apr 2011 and 5.8% more than in May 2010. Money supply totalled 923.3bln AMD ($2.47bln) - 0.3% less than in Apr 2011 and 16% more than in May 2010. Deposits totalled 746.7bln AMD ($2bln) - 1.08% less than in Apr 2011 and 12.8% more than in May 2010. The share of AMD deposits in the total deposit book was 29.2%. The credit book of Armenia's commercial banks grew by 3% as compared with Apr 2011 and by 34% as compared with May 2010 to 1.045trl AMD or $2.8bln. The share of AMD loans was 40.5% (14.6% more than in May 2010), the share of foreign exchange credits grew by 52.6% to 59.5%.
