USD loans provided by Armenian banks fell 19.1% over week amid 15.2% decline of AMD loans
ArmInfo. Armenian banks lent 24 billion AMD (down 15.2%) and US$41.1 million (up 19.1%) over the last week (June 13-19), Armenian Central Bank told ArmInfo.
The source reported that over the current week (June 20-24) in the inter-bank currency market (transactions with customers) banks purchased $65.8 million (down 19.2%) at the average exchange rate of 376.15AMD/1USD and sold $86.8 million (down 4.5%) at the average exchange rate of 377.16/1USD. Foreign exchange purchase and sale in the inter-bank market for June 20-24 totaled $17.1 million (up 24.8%) at the average exchange rate of 376.65 AMD/1 USD. The biggest volume of transactions was registered on June 20 and 24: $4.350 million and $3.350 million, respectively. In the interbank market purchase and sale operations totaled $950,000 million at the average exchange rate of 375.99 AMD/US$1.
As of April 1 2011 the aggregate credit portfolio of commercial banks of Armenia totaled 1.043 trillion drams or $2.8 billion drams, the growth over the Q1 2011 was 4.2% versus 11% for Q4 2010 and 6.7% growth for Q1 2010 and almost 27.7% per annum.
