Armenian president receives a delegation of Egmont Group of Financial Intelligence Units
ArmInfo. Today Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan received a delegation of the Egmont Group of Financial Intelligence Units (FIUs) led by the Group's Chair Boudewijn Verhelst, who came to Armenia to participate in the 19th plenary session of Egmont Group on July 11-15.
The Armenian presidential press service told ArmInfo that the president highly estimated the activities of this organization in terms of the fight against terrorism financing and money laundering. He said that such crimes know no limits and it is necessary to join forces to combat them. To note, delegations from 102 member countries of the organization are taking part in the session.
According to the web-site of the Egmont Group, the goal of the Group is to provide a forum for FIUs around the world to improve cooperation in the fight against money laundering and financing of terrorism and to foster the implementation of domestic programs in this field.
