Armenia's foreign debt grew by 4.4% and totaled $3.4 bln over Jan-June 2011
ArmInfo. Armenia's foreign debt grew by 4.4% and totaled $3442.565 mln, or 87.3% of the total national debt (1269.825 bln AMD). According to the preliminary data of the Armenian Finance Ministry given to ArmInfo by the National Statistical Service of Armenia, the foreign debt annually grew by 13.7%. 83.3% of the foreign debt, or $2.9 bln AMD was the debt of the Government (4.8% semiannual growth and 16% annual growth). The debt of the Central Bank of Armenia made up $573.6 mln (16.7% of the total foreign debt) - 1.9% semiannual growth, 10.4% annual growth. The share of special programs made up 0.3% or $4.1mln - 24,5% growth as against 2006.
The debt to multilateral creditors grew by 5.3% over Jan-June 2011 to $2373.304 mln, or 68.9% of the total foreign debt. The debt to the WB grew by 6.4% to $1.3 bln or 39.1% of the total; the debt to IFAD increased by 6.2% to $65.9 mln (1.9% of the total); to IMF increased by 2.3% to $757.7 mln (22% of the total), to OPEC decreased by 0.6% to $28.5 mln (0.8% of the total), to EBRD increased by 46.3% to 14.6 mln USD or 0.4% of the total; to Asian Development Bank increased by 8.7% to $159.6 mln or 4.6% of the total foreign debt.
Over Jan-June 2011, the debt to bilateral creditors grew by 2.3% to $1069.261 mln or 31.1% of the total foreign debt. The debt to the United States dropped by 3.6% to $31.9 mln or 0.9% of the total foreign debt. The debt to Germany grew by 10% to $146 mln (4.2% of the total), to France - by 7.6% to $4.7 mln (0.1%), to Japan - by 2.7% to $384.6 mln (11.2% of total), and to Abu Dhabi Fund for Development - over twice to $2.1 mln (0.1% of total). The debt to Russia underwent no changes and made up $500 mln or 14.5% of total.
In the second quarter of 2011 Armenia received $40.5 mln (the whole amount was received by the government, of which 39.3 mln USD under bilateral credit programs financed by multilateral creditors, and 1.2 mln USD under bilateral credit programs). The country repaid credits worth $17.1 mln ($12.2 mln by the CBA), and paid interest worth $17.3 mln (15 mln USD by the government, 2.3 mln USD by the CBA). The foreign debt was calculated according to the AMD/USD exchange rate of 368.86 AMD/1USD fixed by the Central Bank of Armenia as of June 30, 2011 (CBA's data).
