ArmInfo. Over Jan-July 2011, the turnover of UNISTREAM international money transfer system in Armenia exceeded $349 mln, having increased by 27% as compared to the same period of 2010. The press service of Unibank told ArmInfo that the number of the transfers annually grew by 11% to 436,627 by August 1.
According to the source, due to the dynamic growth in the turnover and in the number of the customers, UNISTREAM is in the lead in the Armenian market of money transfers. The system is launched in over 220 thsd service points worldwide. No banking account needs to be opened for money transfers, the beneficiary customer makes no expenses, and all the steps connected with transfers are made by the bank officer.
The popularity of UNISTREAM is also conditioned by the function of addressless transfers, when the customers can receive the money at any of the 37 branches of Unibank regardless of the transfer destination point. In 2011 the system implemented a number of projects aimed at enhancement of the customers' loyalty.
In order to create maximally convenient conditions for the customers, the leadership of UNISTREAM has decided to provide unified cards to both the remitters and the remittees. The number of users of the unified cards today is almost 1 mln. The unified card accelerates the procedure of the transfers.
To note, UNISTREAM has been operating in Armenia via its exclusive partner – Unibank – since the second half of 2002. The transfers under this system are carried out in Armenia in AMD, USD, EUR and RUR.
