Armenian delegation leaves for Washington to participate in the meeting of IMF and WB
ArmInfo. An Armenian delegation headed by Finance Minister Vache Gabrielyan left for Washington to participate in a regular sitting of the Armenian-American Intergovernmental Commission and in the annual meeting of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.
The press service of the Armenian Finance Ministry told ArmInfo that the Armenian delegation included the Armenian co-chairman of the Intergovernmental Commission Vache Gabrielyan, Economy Minister Tigran Davtyan, Chairman of the Central Bank of Armenia Arthur Javadyan, Deputy Foreign Minister Arman Kirakosyan, Deputy Finance Minister Vardan Aramyan and other officials.
The delegation will meet with the representatives of the IMF, the WB, Japan International Cooperation Agency and International Finance Corporation.
The sitting of the Armenian-American Intergovernmental Commission will cover a number of issues related to promotion of bilateral cooperation, particularly, issues of trade, investments, competition, tax administration reforms, energy, water resources and healthcare.
The Armenian-American Intergovernmental Commission was founded in 1992. The activities of the Commission have considerably improved the contractual and legal base between Armenia and the US, essentially promoted the bilateral trade and economic cooperation, and fixed big achievements in transport and communication, agriculture, healthcare, tourism, customs service, and in other spheres.
According to the National Statistical Service of Armenia, in Jan-Jul 2011 the commodity turnover between Armenia and the US amounted to $137.3 mln, having increased by 21.1% as compared with the similar period of 2010, and the unfavorable balance of Armenia's commodity turnover with the US made up $18.1 mln.
