Real Effective Exchange Rate down 7.9% over year
ArmInfo. The Real Effective Exchange Rate (REER) was down 0.4% in Aug 2011 versus July 2011 and 7.9% versus Aug 2010 to 125. As compared to Dec 2010 it was down 9.8%, the monthly reference guide of the Armenian Central Bank reported. The downward trend of REER has been observed since the beginning of the year.
The nominal effective exchange rate (NEER) was up 0.4% in Aug 2011 versus July 2-11, but it suffered 6.7% decline versus Dec 2010 totaling 217.3. In Aug 2011 versus Aug 2010 NEER was down 6%. NEER suffered decline also in February, March and April of 2011.
