Rosgosstrakh Armenia Company alarms of fast growth of road accidents
ArmInfo. Rosgosstrakh Armenia Insurance Company alarms of fast growth of road accidents in Armenia amid under-collection of MTPL insurance premiums. The company's press-service told ArmInfo the number of road accidents for Q1 2012 totaled 4768 versus 2869 for the same period of 2011. This indicator grew 54% for January alone (amid reduction of the number of insurants), and 90% for February.
Rosgosstrakh Armenia Insurance Company reports an absolute record of also average daily road accidents. Last year this indicator did not exceed 120 road accidents daily, while this year it reached 160. The company's specialists say that one of the reasons of road accidents is that drivers too early changed their winter tyres despite the weather forecasts.
The Company's Center for Loss Management reports the company's indemnities subject to payment since the beginning of the year totaled nearly 1.175 billion drams. The company regulated 3775 insurance events and paid 725 million drams indemnities for Q1 2012 with another 450 million are still to be paid. The company's specialists say that the biggest number of road accidents are registered in Yerevan and in daytime, at 1:00pm-2:00pm. The share of women in total road accidents is just 2.5%.
Ranking of Armenian Insurance Companies prepared by ArmInfo says the total insurance premiums of 8 insurance companies in Armenia amounted to 22.382 billion drams ($58 million) in 2011 with over 3fold growth for they year. The leader in terms of insurance premiums was Rosgosstrakh Armenia - 6.5 billion drams (3.5fold growth). Indemnities paid by the 8 insurance companies grew 5fold in 2011 to 8.125 billion drams ($21 million) as of Jan 1 2012. The company is the leader in terms of insurance payments as well - 2.4 billion drams.
Rosgosstrakh Armenia Insurance Company was founded in May 2008. It is part of ROSGOSSTRAKH Group (Russia). The statutory capital of the company is 2.13 billion drams ($6 million).
