Deflation in Armenia for May 2012 totals 1.3% and 0.8% for Jan-May 2012
ArmInfo. Deflation in the consumer market of Armenia for May 2012 totaled 1.3%. In Jan-May 2012 inflation totaled 0.8% because of dropping of food products prices (inclusive of alcohol and tobacco) by 2.4%, and without alcohol drinks and tobacco - by 2,6%. As Armenian National Statistics Service reported, non-foods grew in price - 0.2%, and tariffs of services grew 0.1%.
According to the Statistics, inflation was 0,8% for Jan-May 2012 and 2,5% versus Jan-May 2011, and 0,5% for May 2012 versus May 2011. In particular, in Jan-May 2012 prices for food products (alcohol drinks and tobacco inclusive) grew by 0,5%, and non-foods - by 1,7%, and tariffs for services grew by 1,1%. These indicators versus Jan-May 2011 were 2,4%, 3,9% and 2% respectively, and in May 2012 versus May 2011 prices for food products (alcohol drinks and tobacco inclusive) dropped by 1%, and for non-foods grew by 4%, and tariffs for services grew by 1,7%.
The May deflation at the non-food products market (2.6%) was conditioned by dropping of prices for vegetables and potato by 15,5%, as well as of diary products - by 2,2%, eggs - by 2%, sugar - by 1,2%, fish products - by 0,7%, oil - by 0,4%, fruits - by 0,3%, meat products - by 0,2%. In the group of the non-food products growth of prices in May by 0,2% was conditioned mainly by growth of prices for private consumption goods - by 1,9% and household chemicals - by 1,7%.
