Armenian banks directed 27.7% of total loan portfolio to SMEs
ArmInfo. As of 30 June 2012, the Armenian commercial banks directed 429.5 bln AMD (over $1 bln), or 27.7% of the total loan portfolio, to small and medium enterprises. Over Jan-June 2012, the lending to this sphere grew by 9.8%, and by 5.5% over Q2 2012 alone.
According to the Ranking of Armenian Banks by the Agency of Rating Marketing Information, the biggest y-o-y growth was demonstrated by Converse Bank - almost 10 times (18th position), and the biggest growth in Q2 2012 - by Anelik Bank - by 30.2% (17th position). The top five leading banks in terms of SME lending are ACBA-Credit Agricole Bank (68.8 bln AMD), ArmBusinessBank (50.3 bln AMD), INECOBANK (39.9 bln AMD), VTB Bank (Armenia) (33.1 bln AMD) and HSBC Bank Armenia (31.7 bln AMD). 52% of the banks' summary lending to SMEs falls on these 5 banks. 8 banks demonstrated y-o- y decline and 6 banks demonstrated quarterly decline in lending to SMEs.
