Ameriabank offers chip cards with original design instead of magnet cards
ArmInfo. Ameriabank has introduced chip cards with original design. Unlike the two-year magnet cards, the cards are issued for four years.
The press service of Ameriabank reports that the bank has developed a simplified scheme for replacing magnet cards by chip ones.
Sept 1 2012 Ameriabank had 49% more plastic cards than a year before. In Jan-Aug 2012 as compared with Jan-Aug 2011 the amount of the bank's cash transactions grew by 37%, while the number of the transactions by 45%.
In order to improve the efficiency of its plastic cards, the bank is enlarging its ATM network. For the moment it has 88 ATMs (66 in Yerevan, 18 all over Armenia, 4 in Nagorno-Karabakh). All of them accept both local (ArCa) and international (Visa and Mastercard) cards. The bank also has 556 POS-terminals.
According to ArmInfo's Armenian Banks in Card Business survey, Apr 1 2012 Ameriabank had 22,000 Visa cards, over 6,000 Mastercard cards. 68% of the bank's cards are salary cards (73% annual growth).
