Number of active bank cards is growing in Armenia


ArmInfo. In Sept 2012 Armenia's banks issued 30,099 cards (13.8% less than in Sept 2011). As of Oct 1 2012 there were a total of 941,200 active cards against 703,800 cards Oct 1 2011 (33.7% growth).

Armenian Card reports that in Sept 2012 the banks issued 11,187 ArCa cards (34.8% less than in Sept 2011), 10,421 VISAs (+48.9%) and 8,491 MasterCards (-21.1%).

Oct 1 2012 there were 256,800 active VISAs (33.6% more than Oct 1 2011), 218,700 MasterCards (+47.4%) and 465,700 ArCas (+28.2%).

615,600 cards were used in Sept 2012: 326,200 ArCas, 157,500 VISAs and 131,900 MasterCards.

As of Oct 1 2012 there were 5,681 POS-terminals in Armenia (31.4% more than Oct 1 2011) and 918 ATMs (18% more). All of the ATMs accepted ArCa cards, 840 accepted VISAs and 831 MasterCards.
