Consumer confidence in Armenia is pessimistic for both current and future conditions
ArmInfo. Consumer confidence index dropped in Q4 2012 in Armenia from 97.1% to 95.4%. As compared to Q4 2011 the index was fixed at 100.2% (against 90.9% in Q4 2011). The Armenian Central Bank press-service told ArmInfo that the index fell after certain growth in the first and second quarters.
The current conditions index dropped by 1.1% to 98.9% for Q4 2012 versus the same period of 2011, with a 3% decline for Q4 versus Q3 2012. The future conditions index grew by 1.3% to 101.3% versus Q4 2011 and dropped by 5.9% to 94.1% for Q4 2012 versus Q3 2012.
Households' assessment of the current economic situation gave a positive result - 106.7%. Revenue subindex fell 4% to 96%. Major purchases index fell 6.6% to 93.4%.
In the future conditions index all components suffered decline for the period under review, except the major purchases index, which grew to 106.7% for Q4 2012 and to 105.4% versus Q4 2011. Employment subindex dropped to 98.3% versus Q4 2011 and to 91.2% versus Q3 2012. Revenue subindex fell to 98% versus Q4 2011 and to 84.8% versus Q3 2012, with pessimistic appraisals.
The Central Bank has been conducting the poll since 2005 to assess the current economic situation and expectation. The method of calculation is based on the US Conference Board and German IFO standards.
