Yuri Gusev: 20% in retail lending market is a quite achievable index for VTB Bank (Armenia)


ArmInfo. By 2015 VTB Bank (Armenia) is going to achieve a 20% share in the retail lending market of Armenia, Yuri Gusev, Director General, Chairman of Directorate of VTB Bank (Armenia), said at today's press conference.

He said that the specified index is quite achievable, as the Bank's development strategy, VTB Group's experience and the experience of VTB Bank (Armenia) will unconditionally make the Bank a leader in Armenia's banking retail within the next two years. He added that VTB Group's retail business in Armenia is successful, economically grounded and effective.

In 2012 VTB Bank (Armenia) continued developing as a universal bank, with the retail being its key priority. The projects implemented in 2012 aimed to improve the quality of customer service, reformatting and rebranding of the branches, etc. The Bank also implemented projects on development of POS-crediting and launched new banking services.

Vice President, Head of International Business Department of VTB24 Vsevolod Smakov pointed out that VTB Bank (Armenia) has a quite developed structure of risk management and control. "Consequently, alongside with the growth and development of retail lending, the Bank is taking measures to assess the credit risks to maintain the balance between the amounts and efficiency and quality of the retail loan portfolio", said Smakov when commenting on ArmInfo's question.

The representatives of the Bank also pointed out that in 2012 VTB Bank (Armenia) maintained its leading position in terms of the quantity of the issued plastic cards and occupied 45% of the market. In 2013 the Bank intends to develop POS-crediting, speed up SME lending and agriculture lending, and pay special attention to reformatting of the regional branch network, and starting from the second half of 2013 - it will increase the portfolio of agriculture loans.

According to the Analysis and Financial Ratings of Armenian Banks by the Agency of Rating Marketing Information (ArmInfo), in 2012 VTB Bank held the 2nd position in the banking system of Armenia in terms of retail lending, having increased the portfolio by 33.8% to 65.3 bln AMD. The portfolio of agriculture loans totaled 6.4 bln AMD (3rd position). SME lending totaled 46.6 bln AMD (3rd position). According to the latest data, the total number of active cards of VTB Bank (Armenia) exceeded 200 thsd. The Bank works with Visa cards and serves local ArCa cards. The share of salary cards in the total number of active cards made up 52%. VTB Bank (Armenia) is also in the lead in terms of the total volume of plastic transactions. The number of the Bank's POS-terminals is more than 120 thsd, and ATMs - over 104.
