Winner of Summer with VTB campaign draw gets a trip for two persons to Italy
ArmInfo. On Sept 27 VTB Bank (Armenia) and Visa held a draw among the bank's 100 most active Visa card holders, who scored the highest bonus points during the Summer with VTB marketing campaign.
The grand prize - a trop for two persons to Italy – went to Hayk Mnatsakanyan. The other participants were granted 50 certificates for domestic appliances and 50 certificates for VTB's preferential products: -1% loan and +1% deposit. "Summer with VTB is the bank's third campaign to stimulate Visa transactions. The campaigns have shown that Visa is becoming increasingly popular among the bank's customers. We will continue holding such actions as they help us to make our products better known to our customers," the bank's CEO Yuri Gusev said.
Visa Country Manager for the Caucasus Irina Kamkhadze said that noncash transactions are one of Visa's key priorities in Armenia. "In order to stimulate them, we should raise customers' awareness of the advantages of nonchash transactions and thereby encourage them to use plastic cards when paying for goods and services. Due to such campaigns Visa cards are becoming a customary payment option in Armenia," Kamkhadze said.
Director of VTB Bank (Armenia)'s Retail Business Development Department Artak Khachatryan told journalists that the bank is planning a similar campaign in Oct 2013. The grand prize will be a trip to the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.
The campaign for the Visa cardholders of VTB Bank (Armenia) was held from 15 May till 1 Sept 2013. All Visa cardholders of VTB Bank (Armenia) could participate in the action by paying for the purchase or service at any trade outlet in Armenia and abroad. The consumers received bonus points anytime they paid for the purchase by means of their Visa cards.
The analysis of the campaign results has demonstrated that the Visa cardholders carried out most of the operations in supermarkets. Clothing shops and appliance stores ranked next. A big rise in online payments was also registered. Over the 3.5-month campaign the number of noncash operations with Visa cards of VTB Bank (Armenia) doubled. Over that period of time, the turnover on these cards grew by 50% as compared with the same period of the previous year. During the campaign, the average number of operations with Visa cards of VTB Bank (Armenia) was 8,000 daily.
According to the Analytical Review "Armenian Banks in Card Business" by the Agency of Rating Marjeting Information (ArmInfo), in the market of plastic cards VTB Bank (Armenia) holds the leading positions by both the total number of cards and the total number of Visa active cards (over 232 thsd cards as of 1 April 2013). As compared with the previous year, the Bank increased the number by more than 44%. Nearly 55% of the total number of active cards falls on salary projects, and about 26% - on pension cards. In 2012 the total volume of transactions with the cards of VTB Bank (Armenia) grew by 65.4% to almost 115 bln AMD. This allowed the Bank to rise by two points and hold the first position. The Bank issues only Visa cards and serves ArCa local cards.
