National and foreign currency deposits with Armenian banks experience nearly equal growth
ArmInfo. Deposits with Armenian banks totaled 1.447 trillion drams as of 1 Oct 2013 with a 3.2% growth for Sept, 24% growth versus Oct 2012, and 19.4% for Jan-Sept 2013.
By data of the Armenian Central Bank provided to ArmInfo by the National Statistical Service of Armenia, the share of deposits in terms of the national dram in the structure of bank deposits totaled
419 bln drams or 29% with a 3% growth for Sept, 22.5% versus Oct 2012 and 14.3% for 9 months of 2013. The share of foreign exchange deposits totaled 71% or 1.028 trillion drams, with a 3.2% growth for Sept, 25% growth versus Oct 2012 and 22% for 9 months of 2013.
According to the source, the share of deposits of non-residents in total made up 25% or 359 bln drams. This indicator grew 3% for Sept, 33% versus Oct 2012, and 37% for Jan-Sept 2013.
The share of deposits of residents was 75% or 1.088 trillion drams, with a 3.2% growth for Sept, 22% versus Oct 2012 and 14.5% for 9 months of 2013.
Call liabilities in the deposits of residents made up 31% or 336.1 bln drams, with the share of time deposits totaling 69% or 751.8 bln drams. Call liabilities grew 6% for Sept, 15% versus the same period of 2012 and 9% for 9 months of 2013. Dynamics of growth of the time deposits was as follows: 2%, 25% and 17%, respectively.
Balance of population deposits amounted to 734.4 bln drams as of 1 Oct 2013 with a 1% growth for Sept, 25% of growth versus the same period of 2012, and 15% versus the beginning of 2013.
By data of the Central Bank, the interests on dram deposits for Sept fell 0.3 points amid 0.23points year over year growth and slight decline for 9 months of 2013 to 10.01% for Oct 1 2013. The exchange rate of USD on Sept 30 2013 made up 405.29 AMD.
