Deposits with Armenian banks up 33% for 2013
ArmInfo. Deposits raised by Armenian commercial banks as of Jan 1 2014 were up 33%, with a 5% growth for Q4 2013, and totaled 1.612 trillion drams.
According to the Central Bank's data provided to ArmInfo by the National Statistical Service of Armenia, the share of deposits in the Armenian dram in total was 29.8% or 480.1 billion drams, the share of deposits in foreign exchange was 70.2% or 1.132 trillion drams. The share of deposits in drams was up 31% year over year and 14.5% for Q4 2013. Deposits in foreign exchange grew 33.9% and 10.1% respectively.
The share of deposits of non-residents was 28.7% or 463.6 bln drams (76.7% year over year growth and 29.1% growth for Q4. Deposits of residents grew 21% and 5.6% respectively making up 71.3% or 1.149 trillion dreams of total.
The share of call liabilities in deposits of residents was 30% or 342 billion drams (11% year over year growth and 1.8% growth for Q4 2013), the share of time deposits was 70% or 806.8 billion drams (25.7% year over year growth and 7.3% growth for Q4 2013).
Interest rates on deposits in terms of Armenian dram were up by 0.36 percentate points to 10.42% in Dec 2013 and by 0.28 percentage points for Q4 2013. (The exchange rate for Dec31 2013 was 406.12 AMD/1 USD)
