On March 3-7 currency operations in Armenian interbank market dropped by 85.7%
ArmInfo. On Feb 24-March 2, 2014, Armenian banks provided AMD loans worth 39.9 bln AMD and USD loans worth $61.1 mln. The press service of the Central Bank of Armenia has told ArmInfo that as compared with the previous week, AMD loans grew by 5.8%, and USD loans - by 63.8%.
The source says that in the intrabank currency market (transactions with customers) the banks bought $72.7 mln on March 3-7 (down 20.4% versus the previous week) at the average exchange rate of 413.43 AMD/$1, and sold $109.4 mln (down 2%) at the average exchange rate of 414.69 AMD/$1. In the meantime, the banks bought 4.4 mln EUR (down 41.3%) at the average exchange rate of 567.55 AMD/1EUR, and sold 12.2 mln EUR (up 29.7%) at the exchange rate of 571.99 AMD/1EUR. The banks also bought 696.3 mln RUR (2.7% rise) at the average exchange rate 11.32 AMD/1RUR and sold 136.7 mln RUR (13.3% rise) at the exchange rate of 11.49 AMD/1RUR.
In the interbank currency market currency purchase and sale amounted to $400 thsd at the average exchange rate of 414 AMD/$1 (85.7% decline). At NASDAQ OMX Armenia currency operations totaled $38.550 mln (11.2% rise) at the average exchange rate of 414.13 AMD/$1. The biggest amount of transactions was fixed on 3, 5 and 4 March - $15.700, $7.1 mln and $6.1 mln, respectively.
