Armenian dram depreciated against US dollar 1.4% in Jan-June 2014, amid 0.9% year-over-year deflation
ArmInfo. The Armenian national dram depreciated against US dollar 1.4% for Jan-June 2014, and 0.9% deflation. In the same period of 2013, the Armenian dram depreciated 1.7%, amid 2.7% inflation, the National Statistical Service reports.
In June 2014 the national currency (AMD ) appreciated against the US dollar (USD) by 0.5% amid 1.8% deflation. In June 2014 versus June 2013, inflation totaled 1.8% (amid 0.4% appreciation of the AMD against USD). In Jan-Jun 2014 versus the same period of 2013, inflation totaled 4%. In June 2014 the average exchange rate made up 411.1 AMD/$1USD versus 412.6 AMD/$1USD in June 2013.
For comparison, deflation in the consumer market of Armenia in June 2013 totaled 0.1%. As compared to Dec 2012, there was 2.7% inflation. Comparing to June 2012, inflation totaled 6.5%. In Jan-Jun 2012deflation made up 0.4% amid 8.2% depreciation of AMD against USD. In June 2012 the consumer prices fell 1.3% amid 4.1% depreciation of AMD against USD, versys 3.5% inflation in Jan-Jun 2011 and 3.9% depreciation of AMD against USD (in June3 2011, deflation totaled 1.4% amid 0.2% depreciation of AMD against USD).
By data of the National Statistical Service of Armenia, the national currency appreciated 0.1% against US dollar for 2013, depreciated 0.1% in Dec 2013 amid 5.6% inflation (in Dec - inflation made up 1.1%). In 2012 the AMD depreciated against USD 5.9% (0.3% depreciation in Dec), amid 3.2% inflation for 2012 (2.1% in Dec).
