Armenian dram depreciates against US dollar 0.7% in April 2015

The national dram depreciated against the US dollar 2.3% in Jan-Apr 2015, and 0.7% in April alone, amid 14.4% year over year depreciation (13.9% in 2013 and 21% in 2012).

The National Service of Statistics told ArmInfo in April the exchange rate averaged 474.1 AMD/1 USD versus 414.31 AMD/1 USD in April 2014, 416.3 AMD/1 USD in April 2013, 392 AMD/1 USD in April 2012.   In Jan-Apr 2013 the national dram devaluated against US dollar by 2.2%, in April 2014 - 0.03%, amid 0.5% year over year depreciation. In Jan-Apr 2013, this indicator was 2.7%, in April 2013 - 0.4% amid 6.2% year over year depreciation.

According to the source, on the consumer market of Armenia, in April 2015 deflation totaled 0.4%, as compared to Dec 2014, there was 1.9% inflation, while comparing to April 2014 there was 4.8% inflation.  For comparison, inflation in April 2014 totaled 0.5% amid 0,03% depreciation of the AMD against USD.  Inflation in Jan-Apr totaled 1.7% amid 2.2% depreciation of the national currency. The year over year inflation totaled 4.4% amid 0.5% depreciation of the national dram. 

In April 2013, 0,1% deflation was registered amid 0.4% depreciation of the national dram against US dollar, in Jan-Apr 2013 inflation totaled 2.8% amid 2.7% depreciation of the national currency, while the year over year inflation totaled 3.9% amid 6.2% depreciation of the dram.   In Jan-Apr 2012, inflation totaled 2.1% amid 2.3% depreciation of the dram. In April 2012 consumer prices fell 0.6% amid 0.7% depreciation of the dram. 

According to the National Statistics Service, depreciation of the AMD against USD for 2014 totaled 14.1%, in Dec alone - 10%, amid 4.6% inflation for 2014 (in Dec alone - 3%). In 2013, the dram depreciated against dollar 0.1%, in Dec alone - 0.1% amid 5.6% inflation (1.1% in Dec).  In 2012 the AMD depreciated against USD 5.9%, in Dec - 0.3% amid 3.2% inflation in 2012 (2.1% in Dec).
