On May 18-22 AMD appreciation registered at NASDAQ OMX Armenia amid dropping forex operations on interbank market

On May 18-22, both the forex interbank market and NASDAQ OMX Armenia experienced decline in transactions. Over the specified period, the forex operations on the interbank market dropped almost 4-fold, while the operations at NASDAQ OMX Armenia declined by 10%. Armenian dram appreciations was registered.

The press service of the Central Bank of Armenia (CBA) has told ArmInfo that the forex operations carried out at NASDAQ OMX Armenia totaled $5.550 mln at the average exchange rate of 477.22 AMD/$1. The operations at NASDAQ OMX Armenia were registered on 21 and 22 May.  Over the same period, the interbank forex market saw purchase and sale operations worth $1.839 mln at the average exchange rate of 479.25 AMD/$1.

The source says that on May 18-22, on the intrabank forex market (operations with customers), the banks bought $77.6 mln at the average exchange rate of 479.45 AMD/$1 and sold $80.9 mln at the average exchange rate of 481.22 AMD/$1. On the intrabank forex market, the banks also bought 8.6 mln EUR at the average rate of 536.78 AMD/1EUR and sold 11.5 mln EUR at the average rate of 543.03 AMD/1EUR. In the meantime, the banks bought 768.5 mln RUR at the average rate of 9.58 AMD/1RUR and sold 476.2 mln RUR at the average rate of 9.70 AMD/1RUR.
