ArmInfo. As of March 2016, bank loans in Armenia increased by just 2.2% year-on-year to 2.129 trillion drams. Exclusive of roll over and overdue loans, this indicator increased 2.8% year-on-year to 1.970 trillion drams as of March 1, according to the Central Bank's data provided to ArmInfo by the National Statistical Service of Armenia.
Foreign currency loans (exclusive of roll over and overdue loans) accounted for 67% or 1.272 trillion drams of total banks loans, experiencing a 3.8% y-o-y growth. National currency loans accounted for 33% or 649.4 billion drams of total, with a 0.7% y-o-y growth.
Roll over and overdue loans accounted for 5.35% and 2.13% of total bank loans, respectively as of March 1 2016 versus 6.22% and 1.8% a year ago. The y-o-y growth of the overdue loans totaled 21% to 45.3 billion drams, amid 12.1% decline of roll over loans to 113.2 billion
drams.
According to the statistics, the average exchange rate of AMD loans in Feb 2015 was 19.18% versus 18.71% a year ago. The exchange rate for Feb 29 2016 averaged 491.34AMD/1USD.
