In Jan-Aug 2016, cargo traffic in Armenia increased by 85.1% versus Jan-Aug 2015, and totaled 12 199 thsd tons, including 9 624.6 thsd tons (79% of total cargo traffic) in motor transportation, which grew 2.4-fold versus Jan-Aug 2015, according to the National Statistical Service of Armenia.
In Jan-Aug 2016, railway traffic grew by 5.5% to 1 670.1 thsd tons, air traffic rose by 67.2% to 9.7 thsd tons. The natural gas supplied through the main pipeline made up 894.6 thsd tons, 8.9% less than in Jan- Aug 2015. The cargo turnover grew by 1.4% to 2 255 mln tons/km.
The passenger traffic dropped by 1% to 135801.8 thsd people. The passenger operations by car fell by 1% to 120 746 thsd people and those by electrical transport fell by 0.7% to 13 483.5 thsd people, while passenger traffic by rail and by air rose by 1.2% to 243.6 thsd people and by 2.8% to 1 328.7 people, respectively. The passenger turnover increased by 3% to 1711.7 mln passengers per km.
