In Jan-Sept 2016 cargo traffic in Armenia grew by 88% versus Jan-Sept  2015

ArmInfo. In Jan-Sept 2016  versus Jan-Sept 2015, cargo traffic in Armenia grew by 88% to 14  171.2 thsd tons, from which 11 246.6 thsd tons (80.1% from the total  volume) was transportation by road (2.5-fold growth versus Jan- Sept  2015), the National Statistical Service of Armenia reports.    Over the period under review, cargo transportation by rail rose by  2.8% to 1 892.9 thsd tons and those by air grew by 76.9% to 11.5 thsd  tons. As much as 1020.2 thsd tons of gas was supplied through the  main gas pipeline, which was by 9.6% less than the indicator of the  previous year. The cargo turnover rose by 0.6% to 2 579.3 mln  tons/km.    

Passenger operations declined by 0.9% to 153 510.7 thsd people.  Passenger operations by car grew by 1% to 136 185 thsd people, those  by electric transport fell by 0.2% to 15 499.5 thsd people, and those  by tail and by air were up 1.9% to 276 thsd people and 5.6% to 1  549.4 thsd people, respectively. Passenger turnover grew by 3.4% to  1942.4 mln passengers per km.
