In Jan-Oct 2016, cargo traffic in Armenia increased by 89.7% versus Jan-Oct 2015, and totaled 16 289.8 thsd tons, including 12 932.9 thsd tons (79.4% of total cargo traffic) in motor transportation, which grew 2.5-fold versus Jan-Oct 2015, according to the National Statistical Service of Armenia.
In Jan-Aug 2016, railway traffic grew by 3.2% to 2 160.3 thsd tons, air traffic rose by 82.2% to 13.3 thsd tons. The natural gas supplied through the main pipeline made up 1183.3 thsd tons, 8% less than in Jan-Oct 2015. The cargo turnover grew by 1.6% to 2 973 mln tons/km.
The passenger traffic dropped by 1% to 171 242.4 thsd people. The passenger operations by car fell by 1.2% to 151 689.1 thsd people and those by electrical transport fell by 0.5% to 17 495.3 thsd people, while passenger traffic by rail and by air rose by 1.4% to 302.5 thsd people and by 8% to 1 755.5 thsd people, respectively. The passenger turnover increased by 3.1% to 2 161.2 mln passengers per km.
