Ignatiy Arakelyan: Finding ways for state-private sector cooperation is the main focus area of Agriculture Ministry`s work

ArmInfo. The main focus area of  work of the Agriculture Ministry is to form state-private sector  partnership and introduce mechanisms ensuring unimpeded development  of the field, Agriculture Minister Ignatiy Arakelyan stated at the  press conference on the results of the year on December 24.

"Within 3 months we have been analyzing all the programs with the  state's participation, which are being implemented in Armenia.  Meetings were held with purchasing enterprises in order to understand  the essence of the problems and find ways for their solution, as well  as to focus on those enterprises, which possibly will need  governmental support", Arakelyan stated.

To note, as of the end of October total debt of processing  enterprises of Armenia to farmers totaled around 800 mln drams. As of  now almost half of the debt has been redeemed due to work of the  Agriculture Ministry. In October Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan  harshly criticized the management system of the enterprises  purchasing products from farmers and instructed to develop a  long-term concept of procedures for purchase of grape and other  agricultural products. As a result as Agriculture Minister Ignatiy  Arakelyan noted the enterprises cannot remain in debt forever and in  case of their bankruptcy the state will use external control  mechanism. Recently the Agriculture Ministry has applied to the  General Prosecutor's Office aiming to restore the breached rights of  the farmer enterprises in the context of debts.
