Agrarian union of Armenia: 2017 to be advantageous for Armenian agriculture

ArmInfo. The year of 2017 will be more propitious for agriculture of Armenia, Hrachya Berberyan, the Chairman of Argrarian Union of Armenia expressed his opinion at the resulting press conference on December 26 in Armenia.  "They say that the leap year causes many problems for agriculture.  But -  better or worse - we have completed this year," he stated.

According to Berberyan, this year Armenia faced many transportation related troubles. "The Upper Lars was closed for a long time, which became an obstacle for export shipments implementation. At the same time the weather also impacted the harvest, and the  struggle against gnawing animals was conducted in an improper way, which caused an essential harm to Ararat, Armavir and Lori marzez," the expert accentuated.

Following agrarian expert opinion, at the end of the leap year  the snow brings positive impact. " I hope next year we will reach higher results, than this year,"  he mentioned According to the expert, the situation in agrartian sector should be improved urgently. " To regret, today many officials operate "beautiful" figures wishing to have encouragement from their hierarchy. That time is over. Whom do we want to cheat? If we do not possess real picture in the agrarian sector, we will not be able to do anything," he said. he also did not rule out that official figures may derive of those real.

According to preliminary data of the National Statistics Service of Armenia, the volume of  agricultural sector  gross product in January-November 2016 decreased for 6,1% down to AMD 836.1 bln, versus that of 11.6% for the same period a year earlier.
