Karen Karapetyan instructed to study the economic potential of Sevan  lake: it is not excluded that the Director of  Sevan National Park  may be dismissed

ArmInfo. The lake of Sevan and   nearby territories have not only  the key  importance in   environmental and social meaning, but also serious economic  potential, particularly from the point of tourism development. This  was stated by Karen  Karapetyan, the prime Minister of the Republic  of Armenia, at the Government session held on March 23.

According to the Minister, it is not always that the territories  mentioned are used efficiently and properly, considering the special  status of Sevan lake area, as well as the necessity of sustainable  development of Sevan National Park. Proceeding of that, Karen  Karapetyan instructed the heads of the Ministries of Nature  Protection and Territorial Development  to discuss within 2 month  term and to submit  for the Government review  2017-2020  Gegharkunik  Region Development Project (Sevan  National Park Zone), accentuating  the environmental and economic aspects. 

The Government head instructed Gegharkunik Governor to provide  information on factual investment possibilities available for the  region during 2 months. "As of today, amny assets do not work  properly, and we will create a special tax zone," the Prime Minister  stated. 

"I do not know the Director of  Sevan National  Park personally. I  instructed the Nature protection Minister to check if he (the  Director) is capable to  deal with this load. If no, an option of an  assignment of new person should be reviewed," the Minister said.
