National Statistical Service of Armenia: The revenue of the  telecommunications segment decreased in January-February 2017 by 7.2%  per annum

ArmInfo. The telecommunications' segment revenue decreased in Armenia in  January-February 2017 by 7.2% per annum, against 2.9% of decrease in  2016. According to NSS of Armenia, the slackening of the given  dominant segment decreased the revenue of the entire sector of  communications in reporting period by 6.5% against 3.5% in 2016. 

According to the source, the total revenue of the communication  sector made 21.9bln AMD in January- February 2017, of which 61.5% or  20.8bln AMD fell to the share of the telecommunications segment. The  revenues of the TV companies amounted to 771.6 million AMD with  annual growth by 10.2% (against 19.3% decline in 2016), and radio  companies - 319.4 million AMD with annual growth by 5.3% (against  6.2% decline in 2016).

Only in February 2017, the revenue of television and radio companies  grew by 19.1% and 1.3%, respectively, but at the same time, a 10%  decline in the telecommunications segment kept the dynamics of the  entire communication sector in a downtrend - 4.8% against 5%. As a  comparison, a year earlier in February, the revenue of the  telecommunications segment decreased by 5.7%, against the backdrop of  a 14.6% increase in revenue of TV companies and 3.6% in radio  companies.

To note, in 2016 the revenue of the communications sector decreased  by 9.5% - to 151.8 billion AMD, of which over 143 billion accounted  for the telecommunications segment with an annual decline by 21.5%.  At the same time, the revenues of TV companies and radio companies  decreased only by 4.2-4.8% to 6.5 billion-2.3 billion AMD.
