Armenian National Statistics Service: In Q1 2017 Armenian population  number fell by 0.4% annual to 2.982 mln people

ArmInfo. The number of population  in Armenia during Q1 April totaled 2.982 mln people versus 2.994 mln  people a year ago, in other words, decreased for 12,9 people or 0.4%,  Armenian National Statistics Service informs. 

According to the source urban population number for report period was  1.899 mln people, which is 63.7% of general number of citizens, in  the villages live 1.082 mln people or 36.3%. The number of urban  citizens decreased annually by 0.3%, the villagers- 0.7%. At the same  time, Yerevan's population number for that same period increased for  0.2% totaling 1.075 mln people, 36.1% from general population of the  country live in capital. 

According to the statistics, the most densely populated areas are two  capital  near areas-Armavir (265.3thousand people) and Ararat(258.2  thousand people). Then comes Kotayq(252.4thousand), Shirak  (238.6thousand), Gegharkuniq (230.4 thousand) and Lori(220.3  thousand). In Syuniq, Aragatsotn and Tavush for the reported period  live 138.78 thousand, 128.2 thousand and 124.1 thousand people, and  the most under populated area of the country is Vayots Dzor, where  only live 50.1 thousand people.
