Minister of Health of Armenia: 260 billion AMD are needed to fully  fund the sphere, instead of 89 billion currently allocated

ArmInfo. In the budget of 2016,  Armenia's healthcare sector allocated 89 billion AMD, for which 65  programs were implemented.

Meanwhile, RA Minister of Health Levon Altunyan said at the budgetary  hearings in the parliament, 260 billion AMD would be needed to  implement the full range of programs, while budget financing amounted  to only 35% of this amount.

3.3 billion of these funds went to purchase various drugs, including  insulin. 10.9 billion AMD were sent to ambulatory services. About 3  billion AMD were spent on financing the emergency medical service,"  the minister said, noting that during the reporting year, the  ambulance service carried out 466,000 trips.

40 billion AMD were allocated for the financing of hospital services.  In the reporting year, 40,359 babies were born in Armenia. Also,  under the state order, 5,700 operations were performed to stent the  heart vessels. Another 1.2 billion was spent on the treatment of  cancer patients.
