ArmInfo. Metallurgical industry of Armenia in Jan-May 2017 went up by 10.1% growth from the 9.3% decline in Jan-May 2016. According to the National Statistical Service of Armenia, in the reporting period the production of ferromolybdenum in Armenia increased by 29.4% per annum, amounting to 2 991 tons, versus the decline of 12.8% a year ago. Only for May ferromolybdenum was produced 552 tons, which is 3.3% less than the April volume.
For the first 5 months, the production of molybdenum concentrate increased by 15.2% per annum - up to 4 882 tons, versus the decline of 10.9% a year ago. In May alone, production increased by 46.6% to 1,223 tones. The production of converter (rough) copper declined in annual terms by 5.8% - to 4,950 tons (versus 33.1% growth a year earlier), with a monthly decline of 3.1% - to 1002 tons. The production of copper concentrate increased by 9.4% - to 172.6 thousand tons, against growth of 28.6% a year earlier. On a monthly basis, copper concentrate production increased by 6.4% to 36.4 thousand tones. The production of zinc concentrate increased during the reporting period by 48.6% per annum to 3,670 tons, versus the 56.9% decline a year ago. In May, the volume of zinc concentrates production increased by 22.2% to 825 tons.
Production of aluminum foil over the reporting period increased by 4% per annum - up to 12,939 tons, versus 4.4% decline a year ago. In May, the volume of aluminum foil production increased by 13.9% to 3,000 tons. The production of aluminum rolled products for the reporting period amounted to 287 tons with an annual growth of 95.7 times, versus a decline of 66.7% a year ago. Only in May the volume of aluminum rolled steel production increased 2.2 times to 159 tons.
The production of steel pipes in the reporting period in 2017 increased by 72% per annum - up to 2,202 tons (versus a decline of 49.4% a year ago), but only in May there was a decline of 1.8% to 873 tons.
Data on the production of molybdenum briquettes in the statistics of the reporting period are absent, while a year ago in the same period the volume was 307 tons.
All metals produced in Armenia are being exported, mainly to Europe and the USA.
