ArmInfo. The volume of cargo transportation in Armenia in January-May 2017 to the same period of 2016 increased by 61.5% (against the growth of 88% a year ago), amounting to10649.6 thousand tons. Of these, 8704.8 thousand tons (81.7% of the total) accounted for road transport with an annual growth of 77.1%. This is evidenced by the data of the National Statistical Service of Armenia.
According to statistical data, rail freight traffic for the reporting period increased by 9.1% - up to 1118.95 thousand tons. Air transportation also increased - by 80.4% - to 9.2 thousand tons. The main pipeline supplied 817.1 thousand tons of natural gas, which is 25.5% more than the same period last year. Freight turnover increased - by 21.2% - to 1,851.6 million tons-km.
Passenger traffic for the reporting period decreased by 3.9% - to82248.4 thousand people. With a decrease in road transport by 4.5% - up to 72897 thousand people, rail transportation by 4.9% - to 119.7 thousand people, transportation of passengers by electric transport - by 1.3% - to 8,356.7 thousand people, air transportation Passengers increased by 30.5% - up to 875 thousand people. Passenger turnover increased by 0.3% to 1048.6 million passengers-km.
