Yerevan and Reykjavik intend to exchange experience in tourism development field

ArmInfo. On July 11, Minister of  Economic Development and Investments of Armenia Suren Karayan  received the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and  Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Iceland to Armenia, Mrs. Sigri?ur  Berglind Asgeirsdottir.  (residence in Moscow). The sides discussed  ways to intensify trade, economic and investment cooperation between  Armenia and Iceland. According to the press service of Ministry of  Economic Development and Investment, in particular, referring to the   tourism sector, the Ambassador noted that the direction is a priority  for the economic development of the two countries. Sigri?ur Berglind  Asgeirsdottir offered to organize the exchange of experience in the  field of tourism development.

During the meeting, Minister Karayan presented the investment  attractiveness of Armenia, as well as the steps of the Government of  the country towards improving the investment climate. He stressed the  need to establish close cooperation between the business circles of  Armenia and Iceland in order to intensify the foreign trade relations  of the two countries.

Earlier, at the meeting of Ambassador Sigri?ur Berglind Asgeirsdottir  with President Serzh Sargsyan, the sides expressed the common opinion  that Armenia and Iceland can develop mutually beneficial cooperation  in the energy sector, especially in the field of renewable energy, in  which Iceland has rich experience and great achievements. During the  meeting with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Karen  Nazaryan, the parties discussed a wide range of issues on the  bilateral agenda. In particular, the expansion of Armenian-Icelandic  political dialogue, the intensification of industry and trade and  economic cooperation.
