Representatives of Armenian and Iraqi governments discussed prospects  for increasing trade turnover and interaction in education

ArmInfo. Minister of Territorial  Administration and Development of Armenia David Lokyan and Minister  of Education and Research of Iraq Abd al-Razak Abd al-Jalil al-Isai  discussed the issues of increasing trade between the countries, as  well as the prospects for intensifying interaction in the field of  education.

According to Minister Lokyan, who is also the co-chairman of the  Armenian-Iraqi intergovernmental commission, as a result of the  dynamic development of bilateral relations, the trade turnover  between Yerevan and Baghdad has been growing. As David Lokyan said,  Iraq exported its products to the Top-5.  

Minister of Education and Research of Iraq, in turn, called the  deepening of cooperation in the educational sphere promising in the  context of the development of the Armenian-Iraqi relations. "We  expect activation of cooperation in this sphere also in order to  provide education for Iraqi students in Armenian universities," he  said.

According to David Lokian, about 200 students from Iraq are currently  studying at the universities of the republic. He assured that the  possibility of increasing the number of students of this country in  Armenia will be discussed in detail during the forthcoming meeting of  the Armenian-Iraqi intergovernmental tribunal, which will be held  September 25-26 in Yerevan.
