The Armenian government will consider the possibility of attracting older citizens to the labor market, as well as assist young mothers

ArmInfo. The Armenian  government will consider the possibility of attracting older citizens  to the labor market. On September 28, at a meeting of the Government  of Armenia, Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan called for supporting  programs on the active lifestyle of the elderly.

The prime minister recalled that in 1990 the UN General Assembly  called for the celebration of the International Day of Older Persons  on 1 October. Karen Karapetyan instructed the Minister of Labor and  Social Affairs Artem Asatryan to discuss the possibility of involving  older people in the labor market. He also pointed to the need to  shift from social protection and care for the elderly to the  implementation of the program of action for active and healthy aging.  In this context, the prime minister called for studying international  experience and presenting relevant proposals for the introduction of  an alternative social service system.

In addition, the Armenian government approved the legislative  initiative on amending the RA law "On employment" during today's  meeting. The project offers the provision of assistance to young  mothers (up to 24 years) in the issue of obtaining the relevant  knowledge required for admission to universities. In order to  stimulate the reconciliation of work activities and parental  responsibilities, it is proposed that parental leave on parental  leave be provided with state assistance - upon return to work.
