Karen Karapetyan: aim of reform in LSB sphere is changing the way of thinking of local authorities in the field

ArmInfo. Armenian Prime  Minister Karen Karapetyan on November 10 received Chairman of  Congress on Local and Regional authorities of the Council of Europe  Gudrun Mosler-Tornstrom .

According to the press service of the Government, Karen Karapetyan  stressed the importance of the visit of the Head of Local and  Regional Authorities of CE to Armenia and participation to the events  dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the local self-government bodies  of the republic. 

According to the Prime Minister, Armenia highly appreciates  cooperation with the CE and actively is involved in the activities of  statutory and consultative bodies of the Council of Europe, including  the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Organization.

In his turn, Gudrun Mosler-Tornstrom  found effective cooperation  with the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of  Europe, noting that Armenia is a reliable partner of the  organization. According to her, productive discussions were held with  the Minister of Territorial Administration and Development of the  Republic of Armenia David Lokyan and she was acquainted with the  ongoing reforms in the sphere. Gudrun Mosler-Tornstrom  expressed  readiness to continue assistance to this process in Armenia.

There was also an exchange of views on strengthening democracy at the  local level. The Prime Minister presented the logic of the reforms  carried out in the sphere of OMS, the purpose of which is to change  the way of thinking of state authorities in the field, as well as to  increase their role and to form a more stable link in  decision-making.
