Overdue loans in Armenian banks in 2017 decreased only by 0.5% per  annum

ArmInfo. The volume of  overdue loans in Armenian banks in 2017 decreased by only 0.5% per  annum, but only for the IV quarter - by 16.1%, amounting to 31.8  billion drams. According to the Central Bank of Armenia, provided by  the ArmInfo National Statistical Service, at the same time, the  volume of prolonged loans decreased, in annual terms by 0.7%, and for  the IV quarter - by 20.5%, amounting to 99.6 billion drams.

The share of prolonged and overdue loans by 2018 were respectively  3.72% and 1.19% (against 4.14% and 1.32% in 2016, 5.02% and 1.52% in  the third quarter of 2017).

In the prolonged, short-term loans dominate - 71% or about 70.7  billion drams, while long-term loans prevail over short-term loans in  the portfolio of overdue loans: long-term loans - 67.6% or 21.4  billion AMD, and short-term loans - 32.4% or 10.3 billion AMD.

In total, the volume of bank lending in Armenia increased by 2018. at  11% per annum, amounting to 2.677 trillion AMD, with growth for the  IV quarter by 7.3%. Without taking into account the prolonged and  overdue loans, the credit investments of the banking system of  Armenia increased by 11.6% on an annual basis, and by 9.2% in the  fourth quarter, to 2.545 trillion AMD.
