ArmInfo. In Jan-June 2016, economic activity in Armenia grew by 4.8% versus Jan-June 2015 amid 16.7% growth in export. In June 2016 versus June 2015, the economic activity rose by 2.1% (12.8% rise in June 2016 alone).
The National Statistical Service of Armenia reports that in Jan-June 2016 versus Jan-June 2015 industry grew by 8.9%, services - by 8.3%, agriculture - by 3.3%. In the meantime, trade dropped by 0.3%, construction - by 7.8% and power engineering - by 4.9%.
In Jan-June 2016 versus Jan-June 2015, the index of industrial goods prices fell by 2.4%, in June 2016 versus June 2015 this index grew by 1.3%, and in June 2016 versus May 2016 the index rose by 0.1%.
In June 2016, the agrarian sector grew by 98.3% (versus 79.2% growth in June 2015), construction - by 21.6% (versus 21% growth in June 2015), services and trade rose by 11% and 15.4%, respectively (versus 9.2% and 16.2%, respectively, a year before), and industry grew by 11.4% (versus 10.2% rise a year before). Power engineering experienced 4.1% decline versus 6.3% fall in June 2015.
As compared to June 2015, industry rose by 8.9% and services grew by 6.6%, while the other sectors experienced decline: agriculture - by 0.2%, trade - by 0.3%, construction - by 7.7%, power engineering - by 19.9%.
In absolute terms, in Jan-June 2016, trade amounted to 973.5 bln AMD ($2 bln), industry - 659.7 bln AMD ($1.4 bln), services - 579.1 bln AMD ($1.2 bln), agriculture - 254.3 bln AMD ($525.5 mln), construction - 125.1 bln AMD ($258.5 mln), electricity output - 3606.2 mln kWh (include 508.9 mln kWh in June 2016).
In Jan-June 2016, the foreign trade turnover of Armenia totaled 1099.3 bln AMD ($2272.5 mln), with a 2.7% versus Jan-June 2015. Exports grew by 16.7% to 394.2 bln AMD ($815 mln), and imports dropped by 3.7% to 705.1 bln AMD ($1457.5 mln). In June 2016 alone, the foreign trade turnover grew by 4.8%, with exports and imports rising by 9.2% and 2.3%, respectively. As compared to June 2015, the foreign trade turnover fell by 7.3% due to 11.8% drop in imports and 1.2% growth in exports.
In June 2016, the AMD/USD average exchange rate was 477.53 AMD/$1, and in Jan-June 2016 - 483.86 AMD/$1 versus 475.12 AMD/$1 in June 2015 and 476.87 AMD/$1 in Jan-June 2015.
