AMX to start cross-listing with Warsaw Stock Exchange

ArmInfo. The Armenia Securities Exchange (AMX) will start cross-listing with the Warsaw Stock  Exchange, AMX Director General Hayk Yeganyan stated at the awards ceremony for the most active securities market participants.

One of the 20 initiatives forming part of the 5-year strategic  development plan of Armenia's capital market developed in cooperation  with the WFA and Central Bank of Armenia, with the assistance of the  EBRD.

The AMX plans to introduce a WFA market protection programme enabling  automating all the processes.

Major world actors, including SIX, Euroclear and Clearstream are  showing interest in the newly created AMX Trader and CDA platforms,  and the WFA's entry to Armenia's market will launch a process of  establishing ties with international banks and depositaries.

"It is most important because when they see the stockholder, all the  Due Diligence are simplified," Mr Yeganyan said.

He also expressed his satisfaction with a new AMX Board, formed of  highly experienced experts. I think these are most importance changes  because the securities exchange cannot progress without a highly  experienced Board," he said.

Summing up the results, Mr Yeganyan reported a growth in Armenia's  stock and corporate bond market and a 10% annual growth in trade in  government securities, and 25% increase in the number of transactions  with government bonds and a 10-fold growth in stock business. Stock  market capitalization totaled AMD 267bln last year (AMD 173bln) in  2021.

On May 24, 2022, the CBA Board agreed to the purchase of the Armenian  Security Exchange by the Warsaw Stock Exchange. Under a purchase  agreement the Warsaw Stock Exchange purchased 65.03% (967 shares) of  the AMX. The CBA's share remained 25.02%, and the AMX's share 9.95%.  An AMD 873mln transaction was effected.

Armenia Securities Exchange (AMX) is the only securities regulated  market operator in Armenia. As an integrated exchange offering, AMX  provides a full suite of services including listing, trading,  clearing, information services and alternative market solutions.  Investors receive a wide range of investment products and maximum  transparency, together with the smooth and efficient execution and  clearing of trade transactions. Being a 100% shareholder of the  Central Depository of Armenia, AMX also provides integrated  settlement solutions for both resident and non-resident clients by  utilizing the central depository's international settlement network  and relationships with global depositories.

AMX as a group has a pivotal role in the Armenian financial system.
