From December 21 to January 3 Armenian banks provided loans worth 35.9 bln AMD and $83.8 mln
ArmInfo. From December 21 2009 to January 3 2010 Armenian banks provided loans worth 35.9 bln AMD and $83.8 mln, the Central Bank of Armenia told ArmInfo. According to the source, from December 26 2009 to January 15 2010 the banks bought $114.9 mln at the average exchange rate of 376,92 AMD/$1, and sold $195 mln at the average exchange rate of 378,83 AMD/$1 in the intrabank currency market (transactions with clients). Currency purchase and sale operations worth $1.9 mln were carried out at the average exchange rate of 376,92 AMD/$1 in the interbank currency market from 26 December till 15 January. Over the given period currency purchase and sale operations worth $91.2 mln were carried out at the average exchange rate of 377,81 AMD/$1 at NASDAQ OMX Armenia.
According to ArmInfo, as of 1 Oct 2009 the summary credit portfolio of Armenian commercial banks totalled $1.9 bln, having increased by 10% over III qt as against 14% growth in III qt 2008.
