ACBA-Credit Agricole Bank preparing to issue first in Armenia American Express cards
ArmInfo.ACBA-Credit Agricole Bank is expected to issue American Express cards for the first time in Armenia, Shahen Hovhannisyan, Armenian Card Executive Officer, told ArmInfo. He said the first issue of American Express (AmEx) cards is expected within the first half of the year.
"Demand for AmEx cards has already been observed and ACBA-Credit Agricole Bank is serving AmEx cards. Unfortunately, there are no big possibilities to issue AmEx cards. Relevant software is currently developed to create necessary conditions for AmEx," he said. Hovhannissyan said plastic cards of the world's third largest payment system will create new opportunities for extension of the spectrum of card services in Armenia.
ACBA-Credit Agricole Bank, the leader in the Armenian market by the number of issued plastic cards, and American Express Corporation made a contract of cooperation on August 27 2009. The bank became the first and exclusive representative of American Express in Armenia.
