ACBA Credit Agricole Bank to issue first AmEx cards in Armenia in Q2-Q3 2010
ArmInfo. ACBA Credit Agricole Bank is expected to issue the first AmEx cards in Armenia in Q2- Q3 2010, says Stepan Gishyan, Director General of ACBA-Credit Agricole Bank.
Presently, the bank is considering the terms. Until now in Armenia AmEx cards have been accepted only in hotels and some trade outlets. "We are planning to change this situation and to allow AmEx card holders to use their cards all over Armenia," says Gishyan.
Feb 9 ACBA's terminals started serving the cards of the AmEx partner hotels and organizations. By the end of this year the cards will also be accepted by ACBA partner outlets.
Presently, there are as many as 80,000,000 AmEx holders worldwide. "As regards traveller's cheques, our AmEx cheques are accepted in many organizations worldwide and are a very good instrument for those travelling a lot," says Gishyan.
To remind, ACBA-Credit Agricole Bank and American Express signed a cooperation agreement on Aug 27 2009. ACBA is the first and exclusive representative of AmEx in Armenia. The bank has the biggest number of issued plastic cards in Armenia: over 80.000 ArCas, Visas and MasterCards. It is also leader by service of plastic cards - nearly 35% of total network of ATMs and Pos-terminals in Armenia.
